Week 8: Consolidation – Writing, Editing & Error Correction

Overview: This module consolidates all previous concepts—nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, mechanics, tenses, and punctuation. Below are 4 daily practice sets, each containing 5 error-correction entries (20 examples total across 4 categories).

1. Section I: Subject-Verb Agreement & Capitalization Errors

Identify and correct errors related to subject-verb singular/plural matching and capitalization rules.

Day 1 Practice (5 Examples)

   Correction: Capitalized "He" and "Monday"; changed "run" to "runs" for singular subject agreement.

   The student writes key notes in Jammu.
   Correction: Capitalized "The" and "Jammu"; changed "write" to "writes" to match the singular subject.

2. Section II: Tense Consistency & Verb Form Errors

Correct errors involving mixed tenses, incorrect past tense forms, and auxiliary verb usage.

3. Section III: Commas, Apostrophes & End Punctuation Errors

Fix errors involving series commas, introductory clauses, possessives, and contractions.

   Correction: Replaced adjective "quick" with adverb of manner "quickly" to modify the verb "solved."

   The book is lying on the wooden table.
   Correction: Replaced incorrect preposition "in" with spatial preposition "on."
4. He ran fast so he came second in the race.

   Correction: Replaced conjunction "so" with contrasting coordinating conjunction "but" (with preceding comma).
5. There is few water left in the pitcher.
   There is little water left in the pitcher.
   Correction: Replaced "few" (used for countable nouns) with quantitative adjective "little" (used for uncountable nouns).
